Martin's Super Markets Puts Kiosks to the Test
"Our shoppers love using Healthnotes to discover the perfect recipe for dinner along with simple food preparation tips and healthy eating advice," said Amy Simeri McClellan, market research supervisor for Martin's Super Markets. Based in South Bend, Indiana, the company recently installed two kiosks per store across 25% of its chain, in order to offer a higher level of service and differentiate them in a highly competitive market.
According to Martin's store and event managers, Healthnotes has been a valuable complement to seasonal promotions and in-store cooking demonstrations. For example, Ms. McClellan noted that the stores have had significant success with highlighting a new recipe each week and merchandising the ingredients near the kiosks.

Focus on Fresh Seasonal Foods and Organics
The new fresh foods focus incorporates shopping tips on organics to help educate consumers about this complex category. Included is an extensive expansion of seasonal articles on popular food, lifestyle, and health topics such as summer BBQ grilling tips and healthy snacks for families on-the-go. A new cheese and wine section helps shoppers select wine varietals and pair wine with hundreds of recipes, helping round out dinner menus and encouraging companion purchases.
Dynamic department-specific home screens feature new recipes every week and sport a brand new look every month. This frequent updating continues to attract shoppers with new seasonal photos, topics, and recipes—giving retailers more opportunities to leverage their own seasonal promotions.
