Healthnotes Announces New Fresh Ideas Centers for Meat and Seafood, Produce, and Wine Departments
06-May-2007: PORTLAND -- Healthnotes, the leader in interactive wellness-driven marketing for retail, today announced the launch of its redesigned Fresh Ideas Centers for meat and seafood, produce, and wine departments. As a companion to the highly successful Healthy Living kiosks for pharmacy and nutrition departments, the new Centers are redesigned from the ground up to drive sales in the critically important perishable departments. Busy shoppers can now quickly find high-quality, healthy recipes, and tips on preparing fresh foods literally at their fingertips using the new kiosk-based Healthnotes® Connect "Fresh Ideas Center."
"Retailers must find ways to capitalize on shifting consumer preferences for organic and healthy local foods by giving today's time-pressed shoppers instant access to fresh food ideas, along with interesting and reliable recipes for healthy family meals," said Dr. Schuyler Lininger, Healthnotes CEO and President.
He pointed to the Food Marketing Institute's 2006 "Shopping for Health" study, which indicates that more than half of all shoppers are trying to eat healthier. Nearly three-quarters believe that home cooking is healthier than eating out. With these trends in mind, the latest update to Healthnotes Connect™ includes a unique recipe partner program to give harried shoppers instant access to hundreds of fast, easy, and healthy family recipes from trusted sources like popular food magazines and cookbooks.
"Our new 'Fresh Ideas Center' is designed to engage, entertain and empower shoppers, a retail strategy which drives incremental sales," added Dr. Lininger. The Healthnotes Centers focus on fresh foods to drive top-line sales in these important high-margin categories. They feature a continually changing fare of seasonal tips and ideas in the fresh produce, meats and seafood, wine and cheese departments, as well as pharmacy and nutrition centers.
Martin's Super Markets Puts Kiosks to the Test
"Our shoppers love using Healthnotes to discover the perfect recipe for dinner along with simple food preparation tips and healthy eating advice," said Amy Simeri McClellan, market research supervisor for Martin's Super Markets. Based in South Bend, Indiana, the company recently installed two kiosks per store across 25% of its chain, in order to offer a higher level of service and differentiate them in a highly competitive market.
According to Martin's store and event managers, Healthnotes has been a valuable complement to seasonal promotions and in-store cooking demonstrations. For example, Ms. McClellan noted that the stores have had significant success with highlighting a new recipe each week and merchandising the ingredients near the kiosks.
Trusted Recipes for Healthy Family Meals
The new Healthnotes recipe library showcases healthy cooking ideas from EatingWell magazine and best-selling cookbooks published by Rodale Inc. and Hyperion Publishing—three of the best known and trusted sources for fast, easy, and wholesome family recipes.
Shoppers use the touchscreen kiosks to quickly browse through hundreds of easy, healthy, family-friendly recipes, based on personal tastes or special dietary requirements. With one touch they can print selected recipes, along with shopping lists, and targeted offers. As they find needed ingredients from nearby grocery shelves, they discover a truly "grab-and-go" way to cook healthy, great tasting meals for their families.
Focus on Fresh Seasonal Foods and Organics
The new fresh foods focus incorporates shopping tips on organics to help educate consumers about this complex category. Included is an extensive expansion of seasonal articles on popular food, lifestyle, and health topics such as summer BBQ grilling tips and healthy snacks for families on-the-go. A new cheese and wine section helps shoppers select wine varietals and pair wine with hundreds of recipes, helping round out dinner menus and encouraging companion purchases.
Dynamic department-specific home screens feature new recipes every week and sport a brand new look every month. This frequent updating continues to attract shoppers with new seasonal photos, topics, and recipes—giving retailers more opportunities to leverage their own seasonal promotions.
