Knock now has its own pharmacy

25-Dec-2007: KNOCK has its long-awaited pharmacy at last. After many years of campaigning for a full-time pharmacy in the village, local man Paul Davey and Gerard Coffey from Kilkelly opened their new outlet in the centre of the village last week.

The Knock Area Development Association and others were involved in a long-running campaign to have a full-time pharmacy located in the Marian Village, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The matter often came before the old Western Health Board where politicians voiced support for such a venture.

There has been a broad welcome for the pharmacy, which will serve both the Knock hinterland region and also provide a much-needed local service for the thousands who come to Knock Shrine throughout the year.
